TheraSports Counseling Team | Ashlyn Wilkins, LCSW, TF-CBT Trained, ASWIS Sport Certified
Ashlyn Wilkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over seven years of experience in mental and behavioral health — and a personal relationship with athletics that has shaped both her life and her clinical work. Growing up, she competed in softball, volleyball, lacrosse, and cross country, with sports playing a central role in her identity throughout childhood and adolescence. After initially verbally committing to run cross country at the NAIA level, she ultimately chose to attend a D1 university for academic reasons, stepping away from competitive athletics before graduation. That experience of navigating change, identity, and life beyond sports became a defining influence on the kind of therapist she set out to become.
Today, Ashlyn specializes in athlete mental health and is Sport Social Work Certified through the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports. She is especially passionate about supporting athletes through the moments sport doesn’t prepare you for: the pressure to perform, a sidelining injury, the creeping weight of burnout, and the big question of who am I when the game is over? Whether you’re in the middle of your athletic career or navigating life on the other side of it, Ashlyn gets it — not just professionally, but personally.
Beyond athlete wellness, Ashlyn works with teens (14+), adults, and couples seeking premarital counseling. She is licensed to provide services in both Georgia and South Carolina, and she specializes in mental health concerns including bipolar disorder, trauma/PTSD, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Ashlyn draws on a toolkit of evidence-based approaches including EMDR for trauma processing, HeartMath for athlete performance and stress resilience, CBT for bipolar disorder, I-CBT for OCD, and Prepare/Enrich for premarital counseling.
In session, you’ll find Ashlyn’s approach to be integrative, trauma-informed, and — above all — tailored to you. She creates a warm, grounded space where you don’t have to have it all figured out to show up. You just have to be willing to do the work, and she’ll meet you there. When she’s not in session, Ashlyn is cheering on her favorite teams with her spouse (Roll Tide!), hitting the trails or the gym, relaxing with her cats Storm and Joanie, or settling in for a good food competition show or a fresh season of Survivor.
